Esteban Ismael is a Pushcart-nominated poet, instructor & screenwriter. His literary writing has received fellowships and support from the Idyllwild Writer’s Workshop, Rackham Graduate School & Helen Zell. Esteban’s screenwriting has also been recognized by the Austin Film Festival’s teleplay competition for a spec script for Bob’s Burgers entitled “Outside Bro-teins”.
He is the recipient of the First Prize in Poetry from Dogwood, and his poetry is forthcoming or has recently appeared in Southern Humanities Review, Poetry Northwest, Harvard Review Online, Spillway, Foundry, Solstice Literary Magazine, The Journal, Poetry Daily, The New Guard, The Massachusetts Review, Ruminate Magazine & Crab Orchard Review, among other fine lit magazines. He currently teaches Writers Workshops and freelances from his dining room table in National City / San Diego, which he refers to as “the border of two cities inside a Bordertown.”
